FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: December 14, 2016
SAN JOSE, Ca. – Transmosis Corp. will open a new Cyber Security apprentice training program leading to full-time STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) employment in January, 2017, in San Jose, California. The program is funded from a grant through the Chancellor’s Office of the CA Community College System. Tuition for the training valued at $10,000 for accepted applicants is waived. Transmosis will operate the program as the Workforce Intermediary, the first of its kind in the nation.
Students will learn Network Security Fundamentals, Operating System Security Policies, and Computer Forensics to prepare for apprenticeship positions in Silicon Valley jobs. The program trains students for the industry certifications and will secure apprenticeship placement for entry-level cybersecurity positions upon completion. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, have an interest in working and building a career in cybersecurity, and be legally able to work in the United States. Previous work experience is not necessary, but applicants should have basic hardware and networking experience. Those interested in a new career field are welcome to apply.
“Employers face a daunting challenge of addressing security hiring needs as the available talent pool lacks the relevant skills. Security is not an operational function that can be outsourced to another country. Transmosis aims to provide pathways utilizing public funding sources to bridge skill gaps by aligning with industry through apprenticeship programs that enable individuals to gain real world experience directly from employers,” explained Andy Moy, VP of Employer Relations at Transmosis.
Training will begin in January, 2017 at Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) in San Jose, California. The 5-week boot camp program will run Monday through Friday. A limited number of seats are available. Admission deadline for the first round of applicants is 5 p.m. December 31, 2016.
