Technology boot camp to be held in Henderson

Unemployed or underemployed Southern Nevada residents have until 5 p.m. Wednesday to make the first application deadline for an intensive IT boot camp that will provide training for tech sector jobs.

The boot camp — to begin in September — is made possible by a $114,200 grant from the Governor’s Office of Science, Innovation and Technology.

The City of Henderson used the grant to partner with Transmosis, a workplace technology organization founded in Silicon Valley, to provide a boot camp and help between 15 and 20 people acquire skills to work in high-quality tech jobs.

Boot camp sessions will run six hours each day for 10 weeks. Curriculum will be tailored to the needs of individual employers and each participant will be provided with professional mentors and an individualized training plan. Those interested can apply online at Transmosis.

A second admissions deadline is set for Sept. 7 in the chance not all seats are filled with those who apply by Wednesdayaug24.

The IT Boot Camp Training Center will be located at 303 S. Water St., Suite 231, in Henderson. The official opening is being held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
