Robert Reich – Minimum Wage and Age correlation

“I’m tired of hearing about the minimum wage,” said Gov. Chris Christie at an event at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce a few days ago. “I don’t think there’s a mother or a father sitting around the kitchen table tonight in America saying, ‘You know, honey, if our son or daughter could just make a higher minimum wage, my God, all of our dreams would be realized.’ Is that what parents aspire to?”

It’s no one’s dream to make the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, nor even the Democrat’s proposed $10.10 an hour. But, Governor Christie, minimum-wage workers aren’t kids. Most are over 25 and they’re major breadwinners for their families (see below). You may be tired of hearing about the minimum wage, but I’m tired of hearing from people like you who apparently have no idea what’s happening to American workers.
