Transmosis Awards $55K In Scholarships to Winning Students as part of National Cyber Security Scholarship Rollout
Orange County, California – March 20, 2019 – California Cyberhub’s annual California Mayors Cyber Cup awards regional student winners in South Los Angeles and Orange County following competitions on Saturday, Feb. 23. The CMCC event raises awareness about cybersecurity and the many opportunities that exist within the field. It challenged high school and middle school students to showcase teamwork, creativity and leadership. First place teams took home the mayor trophy, gold medals and scholarships donated by Transmosis, each valued at nearly $5,000.
Transmosis, sponsor of the 2019 CMCC, is a nationally recognized leader in cybersecurity workforce development. The donated scholarships, totaling a combined $55,000, enables young individuals to further their training in cybersecurity, preparing them for proficiency in many areas including security fundamentals, ethical hacking and penetration testing, incident responses and more, while simultaneously setting them up for high paying cybersecurity career opportunities. Eleven students across both regions received this cybersecurity education award, split between the Palos Verdes Peninsula High School team and the Troy High School team. Transmosis will also award an additional 300 nationwide scholarships worth approximately $1.5 million for cybersecurity education and industry certification.
“As an organization that dedicates itself to the research and application of technology to strengthen the American workforce, we continuously strive to support promising talent interested in the cybersecurity sector,” said Chase Norlin, Chief Executive Office of Transmosis. “There is a shortage of highly skilled cybersecurity workers in every major American industry. As technology evolves, our labor force needs to evolve with it. We appreciate California Cyberhub’s understanding of this and the effort they are putting behind engaging our youth.”
