Partnership with the City of Tempe will bring New Technology Companies and On-The-Job Training to the Region
TEMPE, AZ – November 11, 2015 – Transmosis, a nationally recognized workforce accelerator founded by Silicon Valley technology entrepreneurs, today announced a partnership with the City of Tempe to launch an invitation-only technology accelerator in the former Tempe Performing Arts Center. Several leading technology companies have already been accepted as Transmosis focuses on the fastest growing technology sectors including cyber security, gaming, digital advertising, transportation, and mobile communications.
“We welcome Transmosis to Tempe. Entrepreneurs and small businesses are the key to a sustainable economy,” Tempe Mayor Mark Mitchell said. “Tempe is a city of great ideas. We want to help empower our creative people to nurture those ideas into successful businesses
The partnership will leverage Transmosis’s history of providing Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) on-the-job training (OJT) to populations in Silicon Valley. The Transmosis platform enables Tempe students and residents to train at start-up companies and gain valuable new skills and real world experience. Companies accepted into the accelerator receive benefits in the form of subsidized office space, labor, and other business acceleration services. Transmosis will also be hosting events and training sessions at locations throughout Tempe.
“We hope that these companies will see our community as a true partner and will want to continue to grow and prosper in Tempe, creating new jobs, products and services for our residents and representing our city around the world,” Economic Development Director Donna Kennedy said.
Last year, companies in Transmosis’s Silicon Valley accelerator collectively generated more than $30 million in revenue, produced new jobs and capital investment, and trained a new set of workers in the technology field. The newly-trained workforce members went on to companies including Hewlett Packard, Cisco, Apple and leading startups.
“The City of Tempe is taking a strong leadership position in helping build a new generation of companies and we applaud their innovation with the Vault program,” said Chase Norlin, CEO.
Companies interested in subsidized office space in the Tempe workforce accelerator should send a link to their AngelList or Crunchbase profile and submit their information for consideration.
